White oak grows in large areas of central and northern America. Our woods are harvested from the forest of the Appalachians, where the finest quality trees were born. It is a large deciduous tree, 20 to over 40 meters tall. It has a life span of over 500 years, sometimes up to 1,000 years. This is a very hard, yellowish brown wood, with straight grain and irregular texture. It is used in the making of fine furniture, luxury items, and musical instruments.
