It’s a wood from the United States and Canada. This rare tree is only found in very particular areas. It is thought that its mottled effects are the result of droplets of water trapped within the wood fibers during brutal spring frosts. The bird’s eye maple is generally used in the furniture industry to produce decorative veneer for panels and also for ornaments. This is a rather frequent special effect in the maples of America forming like a bird’s eye also called fly in French. The design is often accompanied by a moiré cross pattern giving it a very beautiful appearance.
